Lecture ‘Mining, Mapping, and Accelerating Science and Technology’

On June 6th Katy Börner, current KNAW Visiting Professor and guest at DANS and the e-humanities group, gives a public lecture on the topic ‘Mining, mapping and accelerating Science and Technology’.

During this lecture Katy Börner will tell more about large scale data analysis, models and simulations that all aim to capture the complex nature of academia and to increase our scientific understanding of the inner workings of Science and Technology.

Novel approaches and tools that improve information access, researcher networking, and research management will also be discussed. The lecture concludes with an overview of data services and plug-and-play macroscope tools developed at Katy Börner’s Cyberinfrastructure for Network Science Center in support of data mining and visualization.

The reading will take place 6th June, from 15:00 till 17.00 at the KNAW, Het Trippenhuis, Kloveniersburgwal 29 in Amsterdam. The location is open from 14.30 onwards. After the lecture a reception will take place. At the occasion of the lecture parts of the Places and Spaces exhibition are on display. Due to the limited number of places we would like to ask you to register online by May 20 latest.
