Cumulative effects in the Wadden Sea Region

At the request of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature (LVVN), the Waddenacademie has had translated the report “Quick Scan cumulatieve effecten Waddengebied” (2021) into English so that it can be included in the trilateral coordination.

Although this report is largely a translation of an earlier report, the content is still current. Cumulative effects require urgent attention to better protect the Wadden Sea. This report first provides an explanation of the concept of cumulative effects, based on existing literature. It is then explained that getting a grip on cumulative effects is of great importance for an adequate implementation of applicable legal frameworks, such as the Natura 2000 regime.
