13th International Scientific Wadden Sea Symposium on 21 – 23 November 2012

The 13th International Scientific Wadden Sea Symposium will be held on 21-23 November 2012 in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands.

The Symposium, titled ‘An integrated approach to emerging challanges in a World Heritage site’, will be organized by the Wadden Academy in co-operation with the Common Wadden Sea Secretariat, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation, the Delta Program Wadden, Knowledge for Climate and the Estuarine and Coastal Sciences Association.

The Symposium will bring together scholars from various disciplines, managers and policy makers interested in the Wadden area in Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands. The Symposium is planned for a maximum of 250 attendants.  
The Symposium will focus on four themes:
-    Climate and Water;
-    Biodiversity;
-    Sustainability and Ecosystem Services;
-    Science for Management and Policy.
Each theme will consist of invited key-note speakers, invited case studys and poster presentations.
