Interaction between biotic and abiotic factors in the Wadden Sea

On 18 May 2021 the Netherlands Centre for Coastal Research (NCK) and the Waddenacademie organised this second NCK-theme day about the Wadden together with Rijkswaterstaat. Central theme of the day was the interaction between biotic and abiotic factors in the Wadden Sea.

The aim of this theme day was to deepen the knowledge of the interaction between some key biotic and abiotic factors in the Dutch Wadden Sea. The target audience for this theme day were scientists and specialists. See the program for all speakers.

The day was divided into three sessions:

  • Ecological feed-back mechanisms, moderated by Katja Philippart;
  • Ecosystem engineering, moderated by Lies van Nieuwerburgh;
  • Role of modeling in exploring impacts of environmental change, moderated by Martin Baptist.

Katja Philippart moderated the general discussion. Rijkswaterstaat wrote a Reflection of the day (pdf 1 Mb).
