There are huge differences in tourism between the Dutch and the German mainland of the Wadden Sea Region. Ben Wielenga, lecturer and researcher at NHL Stenden University, wrote an article on the development of tourism on the German mainland of the Wadden Sea Region published in the Journal of Tourism Futures.

In the article Wielenga gives an insight into the history of the development of tourism on the German mainland of the wadden region and the success factors that played a role in this. In addition, the comparison is made with the Dutch mainland of the area and why tourism development is so difficult here.
