De Wadden Academy started in 2008 and functions since  2023 as Knowledge Director for the Wadden area. The Wadden Academy forms the connecting link between the policy and research cycles in the Wadden Area.

the Wadden Acacemy is accountable to the Wadden Area Administrative Consultation (BOW).

The Wadden Academy has - in relation to its ambition - three major tasks:

• identifying gaps in cross-domain knowledge in order to assist in the sustainable development of the Wadden Sea Region and formulating research questions relevant to the region; more information in Integrated research agenda.
